Land Rover Launch All-New Range Rover — the World’s First Lightweight Aluminium SUV 06 Sep Significant investment in the largest low-energy aluminium body construction facility at Solihull Plant The Royal Ballet School, London, Thursday 6th September 2012: The fourth generation of the iconic Range Rover line will make its global debut today. The all new Range Rover, to be unveiled at the Royal Ballet School at an exclusive launch event, is the world’s first SUV with a lightweight all-aluminium body structure. The lightest SUV in its class, the new Range Rover is an indication of Jaguar Land Rover’s intentions to strive towards efficiency and sustainability in carbon-conscious world. Further details of a Hybrid version will also be released. The new model features a lightweight all-aluminium body structure resulting in a 420kg (20%) weight saving over outgoing model and delivering improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions. The bespoke aluminium body structure is the result of Jaguar Land Rover’s research and development into high-tech aluminium manufacturing technology. A significant investment has been made into a new aluminium body shop production facility at the Solihull plant. The manufacturing facility is low-energy and is the largest of its kind in the world. The all new Range Rover model will be sold in over 170 markets worldwide and pricing will be announced.
